Peer-reviewed video case reports in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Video Endoscopy publishes short, rigorously reviewed video case reports and technique articles in gastrointestinal endoscopy. The recording is the article. The written text exists to make the recording interpretable, reproducible and citable — not the other way round.
Endoscopy is a visual and manual discipline whose techniques are learned by watching them performed. Most of that watching happens informally, in unindexed conference footage and social media clips with no consent trail, no peer review and no permanent identifier. This journal exists to give that material the apparatus the rest of the literature has: structured review, documented patient consent, a DOI, machine-readable clinical coding and long-term preservation.
Every submission is described using the field's own published lexicons — WEO Minimal Standard Terminology, Paris, JNET, NICE, Kudo, BBPS, the ASGE lexicon for adverse events and the ESGE resection outcome definitions. The answers are captured as codes rather than as prose, which is what allows the article, the chapter track and the annotated corpus record to be generated from one act of authorship.

- Diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI, lower GI, small bowel and pancreaticobiliary endoscopy
- Endoscopic resection: EMR, ESD, full-thickness and submucosal tunnelling techniques
- Third-space endoscopy, endoscopic suturing and closure
- Interventional EUS and advanced ERCP
- Bariatric and metabolic endoscopy
- Adverse events and their endoscopic management — including unsuccessful attempts
- Instructive failures, near misses and rescue manoeuvres
Out of scope
Stated explicitly, because a journal whose scope is "all of gastroenterology" is telling you it will take anything.
- Case series and cohort studies without a video record
- Animal and ex-vivo work, unless it is the validation step of a technique shown in a patient
- Product demonstrations, and any submission whose principal content is a device rather than a technique
- Recordings for which documented consent for publication cannot be produced
Article types
Video case report
A single instructive case. The video carries the technique; the text carries the indication, the decision, the outcome and what the reader should take away.

Video technique article
A described, reproducible technique demonstrated across one or more cases, with the equipment, the settings and the decision points stated explicitly enough to be followed.
Up to 1800 words · video up to 12 minutes
Adverse event and rescue
A complication and its management, shown. Submissions in this category are reviewed with the same rigour and are not treated as lesser work; the journal actively solicits them, because the literature's silence about what goes wrong is a patient-safety problem rather than an editorial one.

- There is no article processing charge and no submission fee. The journal is underwritten by the Saudi Gastroenterology Association, so that "free" has a stated source rather than being a claim. No article charge for the first 24 months. Thereafter a fellowship-funded route remains free; an optional charge applies to unfunded submissions. The current position holds until 2028-12-31.
