Transparency

The journal against the sixteen Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (COPE, DOAJ, OASPA and WAME, version 4.0). Answered plainly, including where the answer is "not yet".

1. Website: The site states its aims and scope, its readership, its authorship criteria, its ISSN status and its ownership, and is served entirely over HTTPS. It carries no claims about impact factors or indexing that are not true — the indexing page states plainly that there is no impact factor. The journal is in pre-launch and says so on every page.
2. Name: "Video Endoscopy" is not confusable with another journal and is not linked to a society or organisation other than the Saudi Gastroenterology Association.
3. Peer review process: Declared on all three NISO Z39.106 axes: double-anonymised, reviewer interacts with editor, review information published: none. A minimum of 2 completed independent reviews is enforced by the software before acceptance is possible. See the peer review policy.
4. Ownership and management: Owned by the Saudi Gastroenterology Association and published by Videndo Publishing. Neither is a shell; both are named with a postal address.
5. Governing body: The editorial board is published in full with institutional affiliations and ORCID iDs.
6. Editorial team and contact information: Editors are named with affiliations and ORCID iDs. A postal address and working email addresses for the editorial office are published on the about page.
7. Author fees: There is no article processing charge and no submission fee. The journal is underwritten by the Saudi Gastroenterology Association, so that "free" has a stated source rather than being a claim. No article charge for the first 24 months. Thereafter a fellowship-funded route remains free; an optional charge applies to unfunded submissions. The current position holds until 2028-12-31. Charges are stated before submission, not disclosed after acceptance.
8. Copyright and licensing: Authors retain copyright and all publishing rights. Articles are published under CC BY 4.0, stated on every article page and carried in the deposited metadata as a machine-readable licence reference.
9. Process for identification of and dealing with allegations of research misconduct: Handled following the COPE flowcharts, with a documented investigation state in the workflow and machine-readable outcomes. See corrections and retractions.
10. Publication ethics: Patient consent, de-identification, authorship under ICMJE, CRediT contributor roles and conflict-of-interest declarations are enforced conditions rather than requests. See ethics and consent.
11. Publishing schedule: Continuous publication. Articles publish when they are ready rather than being held for an issue, and each carries its own publication date and DOI.
12. Access: Fully open access. No subscription, no embargo, no registration to read, and no interstitial between a reader and the abstract.
13. Archiving: See preservation, and the current status.
14. Revenue sources: Supported by the Saudi Gastroenterology Association. There is no article charge, and the funding source is stated rather than left to inference. Revenue arrangements do not influence editorial decisions; see the editorial independence statement under ethics.
15. Advertising: The journal carries no advertising. Device manufacturers have no role in the selection or review of content, and author relationships with devices are declared per article.
16. Direct marketing: The journal does not solicit submissions by unsolicited bulk email. Invitations to review are sent only to people selected for a specific manuscript.
